So what's this whole VanFest thing about?
VanFest is a DIY outdoor music festival, with the goal of bringing the community oriented focus and intimacy of underground music to a beautiful park setting where such things are not normally present. VanFest also exists to bring arts and culture to Maple Valley, and help put this wonderful city into the awareness of people in the Seattle area.
who is the BENEFICIARY for vanfest?
In the past we've worked with organizations such as To Write Love on Her Arms and the Alliance of Eating Disorders Awareness, but over the last couple years we've brought things to a hyper local level and give all profits, as well as on site donations, to the Maple Valley Food Bank, located just a few blocks down the street.
what's the parking situation?
We have on-site parking! Parking costs either $2 or a food donation for the Maple Valley Food Bank.
What's the food situation?
VanFest is all about community and closeness, so we bring you fresh, affordable festival food made on-site. You are permitted to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks into the festival if you are so inclined as well.
Is this an all ages event? Can I bring alcohol?
VanFest is an all ages community benefit, and due to the spirit of the event, as well as liability issues, alcohol will not be permitted or sold on site.
Is this family friendly? can I bring my kids? What about my grandparents?
Absolutely! People of all ages are welcome at VanFest! For parents, it should be noted that VanFest does not ask artists to censor themselves, so there will probably be swearing at some points during musical sets. Regardless, we do our best to create a space that is safe for everyone to experience this festival in comfort, regardless of age or background. Family friendly doesn't come at the sacrifice of fun.
